Relationships represented in this document are between a client (client) and either a coach or a spiritual director (provider). Definition of Services - Coaching is a short-term process that explores where God is inviting the client to grow or go, discerning the next steps, and then empowering the client to follow through in following Jesus where he’s leading. This is about the client gaining clarity and momentum to move forward to whatever is next. - Spiritual Direction is a longer-term process that explores what a client’s experience of God is like, how they are hearing God’s voice in their life (or not), and what apprenticeship to Jesus looks like where they are right now. Spiritual Direction is about growing in awareness of and intimacy with God to live well and rightly in God’s Kingdom where the client is. Important Terms and Conditions Pastoral Support Services are not therapy, counseling, mental health care, or treatment for substance abuse. The provider is not functioning as a licensed mental health professional, and pastoral support services are not intended as a replacement for counseling, psychiatric interventions, treatment for mental illness, recovery from past abuse, professional medical advice, financial assistance, legal counsel, or other professional services. Pastoral Support Services are for someone who is basically well-adjusted, emotionally healthy, functioning effectively, and wants to grow in awareness of God’s activity in their life. Throughout your time receiving pastoral support services, the provider may make recommendations or referrals to other professional services including but not limited to: professional counseling services, mental health services, medical professionals, consulting services, or debriefing services. Services referred to do not pay the providers or TRAIN for said referrals, nor is the client required to utilize the recommendation - the referral is, most often, built on an established relationship of trust, previous experience, or consistent excellent recommendations from other clients. TRAIN International doesn’t provide or imply any warranties or guarantees for services referred by Providers. Pastoral Support Services are designed to address issues the client would like to consider. As these services are determined by the client, they can cover a broad range of topics including but not limited to: vocation, spiritual life, wellbeing and health, goals, relationships, ministry, and many other things. Pastoral Support Services can happen in person but may also use other forms of communication such as telephone, WhatsApp, Zoom, Facetime, Google Meet, or any other means of communication agreed upon by the provider and the client. Pastoral Support Services are most effective when both parties are honest and straightforward in their communications. As such, the provider will be honest, transparent, and vulnerable in all communication with the client. The client agrees to be honest, transparent, and vulnerable with the provider in return. TRAIN assumes that each person in a Pastoral Support Services relationship is guided by his or her values and beliefs. As a Christian organization, TRAIN and our providers are committed followers of Jesus and adhere to Christian faith and practice. As such, they seek to live in accordance with this commitment. TRAIN International is honest in making this disclosure, and our providers will respect differing values and beliefs of others. Our providers do not seek to impose their values on another, proselytize, condemn, or refuse pastoral support services to people who do not share similar values and beliefs. Scope of Services The length of relationship, frequency of meetings, and duration of meetings are established in accordance with the specific discipline and the package purchased. However, these details are flexible if both the client and the provider agree to a different cadence in writing (email or text message communication is acceptable, as is a signed addenda to this agreement). - Generally speaking, spiritual direction maintains a monthly frequency of meeting and has a minimum relationship duration of six sessions (six months). - Generally speaking, coaching maintains a weekly or every-other-week frequency of meeting and has a minimum relationship duration of six sessions (six to twelve weeks). Client Confidentiality Pastoral Support Services are confidential relationships, and the providers and TRAIN agree to keep all information strictly confidential, except in those situations where such confidentiality would violate the law (the client is potentially a danger to themselves or others or the client is endangering a child, for example). Providers may be subject to continuing education or professional peer supervision requirements. As such the provider may share portions of conversations for the purpose of growing in their ability to deliver excellent coaching or spiritual direction. In such cases, the client's identifying details (name, story, identifying characteristics, location, etc) are removed or changed to protect the client's privacy. Missed Appointments Pastoral support services are built on a foundation of trust, predictability, and dependability. As such, it is vital that both the client and the provider hold to the established and scheduled session meetings. In the event of needing to reschedule, please reach out to the provider no later than 48 hours prior to the next scheduled session. Anything less than 48 hours is considered “last minute”. In the event of an emergency that requires a last minute change, please reach out to the provider to reschedule with an explanation. All appointments that are missed without notification to the provider are billed against the agreed upon number of sessions at the contracted session rate. In the event that the client does not arrive at a scheduled session within the first 15 minutes of the scheduled start time, the provider may close the session and count it as a billed no-show session against the client’s agreed upon number of sessions. In the instance that the client feels that action was taken outside of the scope of these outlined expectations, they may contact TRAIN’s Director of Spiritual Direction and Coaching to mediate the issue. If missing appointments without notification or canceling appointments at the “last minute” becomes a repeated pattern (occurring two or more times sequentially), the provider may terminate the agreement with the client. Termination of Agreement This agreement may be terminated at the request of either party at any time with at least one week’s written notice before the next scheduled session. I acknowledge that I have read and understand the TRAIN International Coaching Agreement and would like to register for spiritual direction services with a member of TRAIN International's spiritual direction team. Thank you for your registration! We will get an invoice to you so that you can begin your THRIVE coaching journey in the next 2-3 business days.
